You’ll participate in five in-person learning experiences held at our campus. These immersions provide opportunities to practice hands-on clinical skills, collaborate in team-based environments, and connect with classmates and faculty. Each immersion lasts 3–5 days and is designed to build progressively toward clinical practice.
Throughout the immersion experiences, students participate in activities that enhance their technical skills, expand their clinical knowledge, and promote teamwork.
Skills Building at Each Immersion
Immersion 1
Held at the end of Semester 1, this immersion emphasizes skill-building. You’ll practice history-taking and physical examination techniques.
Immersion 2
Taking place at the end of Semester 2, this immersion builds on the skills of history-taking and physical examination. It also prepares you for the Clinical Experience in Early Didactic (CEED).
Immersion 3
At the end of Semester 3, you’ll learn how to perform sensitive examinations on patients and begin training in Point-of-Care Ultrasound (POCUS).
Immersion 4
Concluding Semester 4, this immersion prepares you for clinical rotations. The focus is on essential procedural skills, including suturing and injections.
Immersion 5
At the end of the final semester, this immersion centers on preparing you for clinical practice. You’ll complete final summative examinations and receive support as you transition to graduation and professional practice.
